SPANISH VOCABULARY LIST

 Spanish Vocabulary List: learn-spanish-well.com

A Spanish vocabulary list is absolutely essential for anyone who needs to express their ideas in Spanish. There are numerous ways to build up your Spanish vocabulary, usually divided up into lists related to different fields, e.g. food, transport, shopping, etc. You can also find vocabulary quizzes, thus making it more fun to build up your Spanish vocabulary list!

Spanish Vocabulary Lists on Internet

One very practical way to begin learning Spanish vocabulary is to use Internet. One product enables you to translate any word or expression, convert any value and access relevant information from thousands of sources, all in a single click. The name of the product is Babylon, an easy and intuitive software for reading and writing. Just click on any term to immediately receive translations, information and conversions. You can download a free trial version by clicking here.

Another very practical - and fun - way of building up your Spanish vocabulary, is to receive a Spanish "Word of the Day". The best service we know is the one offered by the About.com site. You can't subscribe to have the word sent to you by email, but it's still well worthwhile.

At Transparent Language you can sign up to have a Spanish Word of the Day sent to you by email. On the same site you can build up your Spanish vocabulary list even more by using flashcards. More flashcards can be found on the site Spanish Flashcards.

Spanish Vocabulary in Books

An excellent book on Spanish Vocabulary is Schaum's Outline of Spanish Vocabulary. This book presents vocabulary that permits effective communication about everyday topics. You'll also find, in extensive footnotes, the most common ways of saying things - it even tells readers the appropriate word to choose in different Spanish-speaking countries.

Instant Recall Spanish Vocabulary presents on two CDs a technique for learning and recalling vocabulary that claims to have been scientifically proven up to three times more effective than conventional methods. Spanish words and their English meaning are linked by verbal images to help you learn, and, most importantly, periodic testing ensures that you retain the vocabulary. Topics include food and drink, clothing, traveling, family, numbers, and time.

For basic needs - and especially for children, you can try Let's Play! Vocabulary: Spanish. This is a CD that combines pictures, text and sound to make an interactive vocabulary building system. Children can learn words, play vocabulary games and record their own words and sentences (although it's designed for the needs of children, Let's Play Vocabulary is also popular with adults).

If you want to supplement the books with cards, then have a look at Modern Spanish: Bilingual Vocabulary Cards. These are 1,000 flashcards that are perfect to carry with you and use when you have a minute or two of time that would otherwise be lost. An excellent 75-page booklet accompanies the cards and lists them in groups (verbs, nouns, etc.) in both English and Spanish.
